What Is a CEREC Same-Day Dental Crown?

This personalized restoration is known as a Chairside Economical Restoration of Esthetic Ceramics (CEREC) dental crown, which is crafted by using CEREC technology. Drs. Carlson and Le will utilize computer-aided design/computer-aided manufacturing (CAD/CAM) to design a custom tooth replacement for your specific dental needs. Instead of needing to send it out to another lab for fabrication, they can construct your crown in-office with digital impressions of your smile.

Although the treatment is much quicker than a traditional crown, a CEREC same-day crown can provide the same effective protection for a decayed, damaged, or weakened tooth. It can also help prevent bacteria from accumulating on your natural tooth as well as improve its strength and function. Unlike a regular crown, this process only takes one visit.

The Process of Getting a CEREC Same-Day Crown

Our team will first perform an initial consultation where we’ll assess your affected tooth and discuss how we’ll use ceramic material to create your restoration. Once we’re all on the same page about your treatment plan, we can start by removing any damaged or decayed tissue from your tooth. We’ll also prepare it by removing a small portion of your enamel so your crown can be fitted correctly.

Afterward, your dentist will take digital impressions of your tooth. These will be sent over to a specific device where they can design and construct your restoration using CAD/CAM. Once it matches the desired goal, it’ll be sent to a milling unit where we’ll place the ceramic material to be made into your new dental crown. When it’s completed, we’ll polish and cement it to your exposed tooth for a seamless and beautifully blended tooth!
